New Actors Workshop in New York Announces Dates for Spring Six-Week Program

New York, February 5, 2009: New Actors Workshop, one of the premier acting schools in New York, has announced the dates for the spring session of their Six-Week Evening program. The program will meet Tuesday and Thursdays from March 10, 2009 to April 16, 2009. All classes are from 7:00pm to 10:00pm and take place at New Actors Workshop, 259 W. 30th Street, New York, NY 10001.

George Morrison, Mike Nichols and Paul Sills founded the New Actors Workshop in 1988 to offer a new generation the combination of theatrical forms that had been decisive in forming their own careers. The cross-fertilization of Stanislavski-based scripted scene work with Viola Spolin's Performance Improvisation produces a flexible actor, one who is more autonomous, free of the dogma of a single narrow definition of the acting process. It is this combination and freedom for the actor that makes New Actors Workshop different from the other acting schools in New York and the benefits of this unique curriculum are available in this integrated evening program.

Admission is by interview. Prospective students should call the Workshop to schedule an interview. Interviews will continue until the class is full. A maximum of 20 students are accepted. A downloadable application is available on The New Actors Workshop website: http://www.newactorsworkshop.com.

The application fee is $10. Full tuition is $620. This amount includes a non-refundable deposit of $100 due upon acceptance into the program. The balance is payable prior to the first class. Refunds will be made on the following schedule:

  • Withdrawal prior to first day of classes $520
  • Withdrawal during first week of classes $350

There will be no refunds after the first week of classes.

The New Actors Workshop is a two-year acting school in New York City founded by Master Teachers Mike Nichols, George Morrison and Paul Sills in 1988. The school offers a dual-track curriculum combining Stanislavski-based technique with Viola Spolin Theater Games making it unique among all other acting schools in New York.
